About Ava

Ava is a 3-year-old spayed female Husky/German Shepherd mix, up to date on her vaccines. She is an incredibly sweet, affectionate dog who loves her people and wants to be right beside you. She loves to play fetch, run, and get attention, and she has a playful personality. We have made the difficult decision to find Ava a new home because we believe she would do best as an only dog. She can play and get along with other dogs, but she has significant resource guarding with food and toys, particularly balls and her favorite stuffy, and has had conflicts with our other dogs. She can also become uncomfortable when another dog enters her space. She currently lives with cats and will chase them, although she has never hurt them. Because of this, a home without cats or other small animals would likely be best. She has also shown some discomfort around young children entering her personal space, so we feel an adult-only home with someone experienced with dogs would be the safest and best fit. This is a very difficult decision because Ava is truly a loving and wonderful dog with people. We aren't looking to simply give her away-we want to find a home where she can thrive and be someone's devoted companion without the stress of sharing her space and resources with other pets or young children. We will be completely honest about her history and needs and are looking for a responsible, loving home that understands her.
