Orla is a goofy, affectionate one year-old pit mix found near Indianola MS on May 5th, 2026. She is heartworm negative, updated on all shots, spayed, house trained, and knows sit. At the time of rescue, she was 30 lbs and has reached her ideal weight (according to our vet) of 40 lbs. She can sometimes play a bit rough but has been getting better every day. We think she would be good with older kids but might overwhelm smaller children. Orla, which means 'golden princess' (her eyes are gorgeous and she is the princess of the house!), loves tug-o-war and peanut butter puzzles (mini muffin pan with pb). She rides extremely well in a vehicle, is protective, very eager to please. We think she would make an excellent adventure buddy. She does well being left alone for periods of time and whether you have been gone for a few seconds or a few hours she will greet you with enthusiasm and many licks. Does not react during thunderstorms, hates with a burning passion lawn mowers and golf carts, and can reach mach 1 speed when the zoomies hit. About a week after we rescued her, once she had settled in somewhat, we tried to introduce her to our 10 year old rescue weimaraner in neutral territory. He was interested but relaxed. She did not react well to him. We have kept them totally separate since then. We do not know if she would react better to smaller dogs, or how she reacts to cats at all. As a precaution, a home with no other pets is a must. We want Orla to find a safe, happy, and loving Forever Home - we will be willing to travel her as far as she needs to go to do so.
