About Zelda

Zelda is a 4-year-old German Shepherd, approximately 80 lbs. She is affectionate, loving, and high-energy, and she has done well around both adults and children. She is spayed, potty trained, crate trained, and up to date on her vaccinations. Zelda is comfortable riding in the car, enjoys being brushed, and does not mind having her paws or ears handled. Zelda has not had much basic obedience training and does not currently know common commands. She pulls on the leash and would benefit from a patient owner who is willing to continue working with her on leash manners, basic obedience, and structure. Because of her energy level, she would do especially well in an active home with a securely fenced yard where she has room to exercise. She has a high prey drive toward small animals, so a home without cats or other small pets would be the safest fit. She gets very excited when she sees other dogs, but her behavior during close interactions with unfamiliar dogs is unknown, so any introductions to another dog should be done carefully. During the 6 months I have had Zelda, she has never bitten a person or another animal. She does not show aggression toward people around her food or toys. Her behavior regarding food or toys around other animals is unknown. Zelda can become destructive if left alone outside of her crate for too long, so she would benefit from regular exercise, enrichment, companionship, and a consistent routine. I am rehoming Zelda because my new job requires me to travel frequently. I do not want her spending long periods of time crated or being boarded while I am away. My goal is to find her a responsible, loving home that has the time and ability to give her the exercise, attention, and training she deserves.
