Remi is a wonderful dog in many ways. She is a beautiful 4 year old shepherd/collie mix with a very sweet & sensitive personality, eager to please, bonds with her person quickly and is very gentle and even protective of young children. She walks beautifully on a leash (and off-leash right by your side) and indifferent to the presence of other dogs on walks. She is a great hiking/walking partner and has near perfect recall (running cats cause her to slip). She generally just wants to be around her humans and is not the type to wander. We adopted Remi in March from a family that had to relocate due to military orders. Unfortunately they didn't disclose her challenges and moved right after. Despite checking so many boxes of a perfect dog, she does have some behavior challenges in our home. She chases/lunges/nips cats, is aggressive toward dogs who enter our home and very nervous toward strange men (lunges/nips at their butt - doesn't actually bite). She come around with my husband, but not with male family members occasionally visit. We've worked with a private trainer who has agreed that our home is not the right place for her as we have 3 cats, livestock, family members with dogs and host frequent family gatherings. Remi's ideal home is with a single woman (or couple) who work from home or are retired, live a fairly quiet life with no other dogs and cats who won't run. She did an extended stay with our trainer and did behave well with her cat and other dogs, but it was in a tightly monitored situation by a very strong alpha persona. Remi is up-to-date on all vaccinations and waiting for her perfect forever home.
