About Sweetie

Adoption Fee: $250
Lab / German Shepherd
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Sweetie came to me at age 2, she had been abused, neglected and had no fur. She was 20 lbs underweight. She was cover in dandruff and skin scabs. After 9 months of care she was gorgeous, sleek black fur, over time her German shepherd moles appeared and the tan on her legs. She takes benadryl 2 times a day and is now on Gabapentin for her separation anxiety. Up until 4 months ago she was doing beautifully, then she started getting I to the trash, breaking through the pet gate to my room, chasing the cats, and generally not listening. I've fostered, owned, and raised many animals with special needs, but she weighs 80 lbs and is too strong for me and even my husband. We are concerned someone or even she will get hurt. She is sweet, loving, and super silly. She is very intelligent, loves the beach, and the water hose. We love her with all our heart, but between the vet and the pet therapist we have exhausted our abilities. It is with a sad heart, but with hope, that rehoming her will be the safety and security she needs. She would thrive in an environment where she could be with her person most of the time. We have found she prefers people to other animals, little dogs scare her, but she is good with dogs her size. This was not an easy decision, we are not looking for other options to keep her with us, we want to find her her forever home.
