I'm looking to find the perfect home for my sweet 2-3-year-old girl. She's about 35 lbs, fully grown, housetrained, and believed to be a Chow Chow mix (she has the classic purple tongue). We also suspect she may have some Akita or Shiba Inu in her because of her smart, independent personality. She is incredibly loving and loyal to her people. Once she decides you're one of her favorites, you get the full treatment-including her famous hugs where she refuses to let go! She can be cautious with new people and is naturally very protective, but she is such a sweet girl once she trusts you. She LOVES to play. Her favorites are fetch, rope toys, squeaky toys. She loves peanut butter yak cheese chews. She absolutely loves walks and is very athletic, so I think she could be an amazing hiking, agility, or adventure buddy with some consistent training. She is very smart and picks things up quickly. She does best with younger, energetic dogs that enjoy playing, especially dogs who aren't intimidated by her barking and playful growling when she's trying to get them to play. She can be a little overwhelming for lower-energy dogs because she has SO much energy. She is decent with cats and is more playful than anything-if a cat hisses or runs away, she doesn't become aggressive. She has been living with a cat for the past year and they are buddies. She does have some anxiety and leash reactivity, and she can be cautious or fearful with unfamiliar people. Because of this, she would do best with someone patient who is willing to continue working on her confidence and training. I don't think a home with young children would be the best fit for her because unpredictable situations can make her uncomfortable. I think her ideal home would be a couple or individual with a backyard, an active lifestyle, and preferably another playful dog. She would love having someone who can give her plenty of exercise, attention, and structure. She has a thick, shorter coat and is pretty low-maintenance when it comes to grooming-regular baths are generally all she needs. She also has the whitest teeth, which is why I call her my little bat whenever she barks. This is a very difficult decision because she truly is a wonderful dog that I love a lot. I wish I had a backyard and the time to give her, but I know this is the best decision. I'm hoping to find her a home where she can get the time, space, companionship, and training she deserves. I'm hoping to rehome her within the next month, and she has lots of toys and supplies that can go with her. I'm looking for the right home, not just the first home. If you think you might be the person who can give this sweet, goofy, energetic girl her perfect life, please reach out.
