About Daphne

We are looking for the right home for our female black-tri standard Australian Shepherd puppy, Daphne. Bringing a dog into our family was something we considered for a long time. Unfortunately, we've realized that our son's medical needs make raising a young, growing Aussie a safety risk we aren't comfortable taking. Our son has a genetic neurological condition that permanently affects his balance and coordination, and Daphne has already accidentally knocked him down several times. She is still small, but she will eventually be a 40-50+ pound dog. We completely understand that her jumping, nipping, excitement, and puppy energy are normal puppy behaviors and not an aggression or temperament issue. Training and maturity will improve them, but we simply can't risk an accidental collision or serious fall as she gets bigger. Daphne is incredibly smart, affectionate, playful, and eager to learn. She already knows sit, down, kennel, paw/shake, spin, and her name, and is working on leash manners and household boundaries. She is still a puppy and will need continued housebreaking, training, exercise, and socialization. We would ideally love to find someone familiar with Aussies or other active working/herding breeds. Daphne has received her first puppy vaccine and has a veterinary appointment scheduled for early September to continue her vaccination series. She is microchipped and is eligible for AKC limited registration (no breeding rights) with paperwork provided. There will be a rehoming fee, and we will be selective about her placement. This is a difficult decision, but we know it is the right one for our family. Our priority is finding Daphne a loving, committed home where she can continue learning and thrive.
