About Ty

Australian Cattle Dog
Age: Senior
Sex: Male

Ty. Ty. Ty. He is my heart and soul and I hate posting this. He is a great dog, honestly. Current on vaccines, knows basic commands, but has tremendous potential even now to be trained because he really is wicked smart and highly food motivated. Just a vessel of untapped potential even at his age. He is 11, with no known health issues. He's a heeler, so basically the cat of dogs as far as longevity goes, so I would not be surprised if he'll be going strong for another 6-8 more years. He has one fatty growth under his left front leg, and cute crinkled ears from fluid build up in the tips of his ears that calcified. The vets said it wouldn't be advantageous to operate on given their size. He is NOT good with cats%BD'%BD|he has killed several neighborhood cats and plenty of squirrels and rats over the years. He is NOT good with male dogs, and he has tolerated my female mix for the past 7 years. He is good with other people and kids (give him a treat and he is your best friend), but after all this time m, he would really just prefer it be just me and him. That being said, I think the best home for him is as the only animal and with someone who can give him more time, and love, and affection that I have been able to. He's a city boy, but wouldn't be opposed to a wider horizon, just as long as you let him inside to enjoy the air conditioner. He likes to pretend he's the bravest on the block, but really he just wants to be by your side or laying his head on your feet%BD'%BD|at all times. He loves car rides and road trips. He's crate trained, and never messes in the house (not my house anyway%BD'%BD|for whatever reason at my parents house he always lets at least a little go%BD'%BD|the only sense I can make of it is something about the carpet between his toes just feels a little too familiar.). He is such a fantastic dog, and I am not in a hurry to rehome him, but am just waiting for the right home to reach out. I will for your vet's contact information so I can confirm your relationship with them, I will ask that we meet at least once in person for you to meet Ty before making a commitment to him, and I will as a rehoming fee to ensure he goes to a good home. The choice to rehome Ty is a deeply personal matter to me that I have not taken lightly. It is not a reason I care to expand on so please don't ask. If you are familiar with and enjoy the heeler personality, he is as you'd expect with a little bit of a derpy-lab-like-be my only friend-couch-potato-kind of vibe. He will be loyal to you with every fiber of his being. He absolutely deserves the best.
