As sad as this is for me, we have an older German Shepherd (almost 10 years old) looking for a quiet retirement home. He's a longtime family dog; house-trained and established in a home environment. Due to a young child in the household and differing comfort levels regarding a large dog around a toddler, we're looking for the right permanent home for him. We want to make sure he goes to someone who understands and loves the breed. He has no history of aggression toward people. He is affectionate, people-oriented, alert to activity outside the home, and generally very sweet. Our primary concern is simply that he is a large German Shepherd who does not always appreciate his own size around our toddler i.e. he may run past him closely enough that an incidental bump could knock over our toddler with a fair bit of force.
