About Mia

Mia is a 10-month-old Terrier Mix that weighs just 8 lbs. She was found by Animal Control wandering the streets experiencing heat stroke that she nearly died from. She is very thin and we suspect may have been born on the streets as she seems to fear any human interaction. She doesn't understand human affection and hasn't learned yet what being held or cuddled should feel like. Mia does not want to go outdoors under any circumstances, when her Foster Mom can get her outside, she looks for a bush or shrub to hide under. We've only had her for a short time, but Mia is slowly, cautiously beginning to piece together that she is safe now. She's learning that humans can be kind, that she has a warm bed and regular meals, and that she doesn't have to fend for herself anymore. She has a long way to go, but underneath all that fear is a tiny dog who desperately wants to trust-and we believe she's going to get there.
