PALO ALTO, CA (NOR CAL/BAY AREA)- PETS IN NEED SHELTER- ID #A184478 - 'COCO BEAR'- 4 YR Young, SWEET FEMALE CHOW FOUND AS A STRAY- has been social with other dogs so far. X URGENT! SHELTER IS ASKING FOR HELP - ADOPTABLE, ALTHOUGH MAY NEED RESCUE- HOME OR FOSTER AND OR RESCUE NEEDED ASAP, CHOW SAVVY PREFERRED! Please help us find a loving home or foster and or rescue asap for this sweet urgent girl. According to the shelter, this beautiful girl was sadly found as stray, and later trapped. Although she was found microchipped, we understand the owner had re-homed her and was no longer able to take her back, and the shelter could not reach the people who she had been re-homed to (as they likely dumped her). The shelter told us, 'She is a sweet girl who has made some amazing progress in our care. When Coco first arrived into our care, she was very stressed and would not eat/eliminate for the first 3-4 days. By day 4, she had settled in and started making friends with our staff, and started to eat and eliminate regularly. She has now enjoy petting/scratches and going for walks. She is spayed, and up to date on her medical.' The shelter also provided a folder with many pictures and videos of her (one of the videos is before her mats were cut): https://app.air.inc/a/bba9e3b3c While Coco Bear has not been officially dog tested, the shelter told us 'she has shown social behavior towards dogs on leash, and we will likely be doing an official dog test in the next 3 days' We are hoping some responsible home can either step up or offer to foster for a rescue. Rescues need a foster and a place for a dog to go, foster ideally should be chow savvy and local to the dog or a willing rescue. The shelter has let us know of her urgency and said, ' She is off her stray hold and currently available for adoption; we will keep her at the shelter for another week, but as we are extremely full and she is weird with people we cannot keep her past that.' She will therefore be at risk for euthanasia soon due to lack of space and high intake. If you can adopt directly in person, please contact the shelter immediately by emailing [email protected], and call (650) 496-5971 and provide her ID. Coco Bear's listing link is: https://www.adoptapet.com/.../49022027-palo-alto... If you can possibly foster for a rescue, please contact [email protected] or Southern California Chow Chow Rescue Network asap who is trying to assist the shelter with her placement, so we can try to pair you with a rescue to help. Rescue groups may email the shelter directly at [email protected] and call Michelle at (650) 556-5125 The shelter said 'our staff and volunteers have also offered to drive her to a rescue placement outside of the area, if it will help get her out of the shelter sooner, rather than later. Our shelter can be a very stressful environment, so we would just like her to be in a home that understands and appreciates Chow Chows.'
