Sherwin is a 3 year old, 12 pound neutered male Yorkie/Maltese%A0 mix (based on appearance, not DNA testing). THE BASICS: An active young fellow, Sherwin is looking for an experienced adopter, one who will patiently accept & work to change his clinging & guarding behaviors, one who is interested in going through training classes & applying those lessons with him. Once Sherwin decides you're his person, he will not want to leave your side. Sherwin loves to please his best friend. Sherwin craves attention & contact from his best friend. When you leave the house, the good boy behaves himself. Sherwin likes to be outside, preferring someone is with him. As well as just the company, Sherwin enjoys a partner for a game of fetch. Sherwin would appreciate a dog%A0who wants to play as much as he does. He wouldn't mind being an only dog& not having to share his people. Sherwin is showing a tendency to guard his foster grandpa as well as a fierce guardian of%A0his home territory. He should ALWAYS be leashed when meeting new people. Sherwin is learning not to nibble at his foster grandpa's hand. This not yet %A0completely broken behavior makes him a poor fit for a family with young children. Sherwin often shows off his voice. He gets excited seeing other dogs & people while out on walks or in the backyard when he sees the neighbors or one of their dogs. Sherwin's speed is on display when he spies a bird, squirrel or rabbit. Sherwin coexists with smaller & larger dogs in his foster home but played with only the one who was willing. HOME RECOMMENDATION: Detached Single Family home with a small dog secure fenced yard is recommended. As he can be a vocal guardian of his territory, Sherwin would not be a good fit for an apartment or condo. But, hey, if you have had successful experience with a dog with such traits & don't have a single family detached residence, let us know. HOUSETRAINED: Yes, with only a couple of transition accidents in his foster home and during%A0 extended periods of thunderstorms. VACCINATED, NEUTERED &MICROCHIPPED: Yessiree to all three.%A0%A0%A0%A0 UP TO DATE ON HEARTWORM,FLEA%A0 & TICK%A0PREVENTATIVE: You bet. HEALTH: Examined by a vet, Sherwin appears to be excellent now that he was treated for a flea infestation.%A0%A0%A0%A0%A0%A0%A0%A0%A0%A0%A0%A0%A0%A0%A0%A0%A0%A0%A0%A0%A0%A0%A0%A0%A0 LEASH MANNERS: Walks decently on a leash, but zig-zags a lot. Sherwin would love the one on one attention taking training classes with his best friend.CAT COMPATIBILITY: Can't say for sure. There are no cats in Sherwin's foster home. Sherwin's ADOPTION FEE: %A0$450.
