Sweet Beans. She was adopted from a shelter and lived for years with her owner who recently passed from cancer. She came to my farm when her owner needed someone to look after her while in the hospital. She has been a sweet addition to our animal family (except for chickens; more about that in a bit). She gets along with our other four dogs and three cats. She has also been great with my toddler grandchildren, and any workers or visitor who come to the property. She is very submissive and humble. She low crawls across the floor as if she is pleading for affection. She thumps her tail when you pass by, again pleading for attention (which she gladly received from us). Unfortunately, we did not know that Jack Russells are one of four breeds that should not be around chickens. We found this out the hard way one very tragic afternoon. We need to find Beans a chicken-free home. Our pet sitter loves her and tried to take her home where she got along very well with the pet sitter's pit bull and four year old daughter but the pet sitter's landlord won't let her have a second dog. Even though around 11 years old, she is in good health and energetic but not overly so (which in Jack Russells can be a good thing). She likes to lie around next to a lap. She learns very quickly and we were amused by how she watched the other dogs for clues about how to behave. In her life with the owner who died, she was in a house all day, most days while her owner worked. I believe she had a small yard for exercise and was probably not taken out for much in the way of walks; the point being she doesn't appear to need intensive walks or exercise. She is housebroken and when left alone has not destroyed any property in our house. She is currently at a boarding kennel which is not sustainable for much longer. I am anguished over the thought of taking her to a shelter. Praying someone can give this sweet girl a loving home.
