X URGENT- STOCKTON, CA (CENTRAL AND N CAL)- VERY AFFECTIONATE, YOUNGER MALE CHOW 'OSO' ABANDONED AFTER OWNER MOVED - IN NEED OF A LOVING, RESPONSIBLE HOME, IDEALLY W/ CHOW EXPERIENCE- in a temporary foster home, and now vetted and neutered, but may be shelter bound at kill shelter if no home is found soon. Believed to be good with other dogs. Please help us find a loving, responsible home for handsome and sweet Oso who has been recently vetted and is now ready for adoption. Last month, neighbors reported seeing him for several months roaming the neighborhood where he was periodically fed, after his owner moved away. Thankfully, local good Samaritans helped get him safely him off the street and the care he needed. Originally, poor Oso was in matted, thin condition and seemed to have burned paws from the soaring temperatures. Another good Samaritan is now temporarily fostering him through the Stockton shelter. The new program provided vaccinations and neuter while keeping him out of the shelter where he would likely be placed on the euthanasia list due to be being overfull. Oso's foster reports he is very affectionate with her and her husband and those he trusts, and bonded to them with within days. They provided nice videos of Oso loving to be pet and giving kisses on the face. With children, while he has also been loving, on occasion, he seemed more reactive after possibly be startled or overstimulated. Therefore, a home with no children is requested. Neighbors also reported seeing Oso hanging around other dogs. So while we think he is dog friendly or friendly with certain dogs, we recommend a meet and greet with any other dogs in the home. Please note the foster has cats and chickens he did want to chase, and a dog who is not dog friendly. As a result, Oso is having to stay outside where it is very hot and has not been dog tested yet. We are looking for a loving home asap and where he can live as an indoor pet. Oso has also been groomed, and we understand he loves to be brushed. He has also visited a private vet who estimated he is only 2-3 years old. Oso weighs only 49 lbs, and has no known medical issues other than he just developed a hot spot (possibly from the heat), which medicine is already clearing up. He was recently been neutered, and his legal 30 day stray hold just ended. Therefore, we need to find Oso a home asap, as we do not want him ending up at the shelter as the foster cannot hold indefinitely due to her own dog not being dog friendly. If you are interested in applying to adopt Oso in person, please contact [email protected] or Southern California Chow Chow Rescue Network who is assisting with his placement.
