CODE RED/ EUTH LISTED- 8/26 TO COMMIT FOR RESCUE ONLY, SCARED SWEET CHOW -FAIRFIELD, CA (N CAL)- Solano County Animal Care ID #A313732 'TOMMY' - a VERY HANDSOME BOY DUMPED IN FIELD AND UNDERSTANDABLY SCARED, BUT FINDS COMFORT IN OTHER DOGS, MADE 'RESCUE ONLY' AT THIS TIME, IF INTERESTED IN ADOPTING, we will do our best to connect you with a rescue, but we need a foster to step up asap to find a Rescue to save him in time! SHELTER ASKING FOR HELP, BUT TOMMY WILL BE EUTHANIZED IN THE NEAR FUTURE IF NO FOSTER/RESCUE STEPS UP. RESCUES NEED FOSTERS- CAN ANYONE HELP? pls dm or email with serious interest We are in urgent need of finding a foster or foster to adopt, for this stunningly beautiful male chow who ended up at the county kill shelter as an stray after being brought in after roaming with other dogs and being caught. We have named him Tommy, his age has not been estimated yet but he looks younger. We were originally contacted by a shelter volunteer who explained, it 'Took a few days for animal control to catch. He would flee to the surrounding orchards. He is dog friendly and not aggressive just scared, he is already declining in the shelter. He was around horses and goats and left them alone' Despite what he must have gone through after being dumped, and left to starve, we have nice videos show him interacting and hanging out nicely with other stray dogs that we will post on facebook. Since coming into the shelter, we were provided more video in his kennel showing no aggression whatsoever when his kennel was approached. https://youtube.com/shorts/gzgT6HIMTg0?is=fEo42zVFukDaRdsP. Although the shelter thinks is quite undersocialized, given he looks so well kept, we believe he was someone's pet and will warm up once he feels safe as is typical of the breed. They said, 'He is very unsure of people but found comfort in other dogs while he was running loose. I think he would thrive with someone experienced with fearful dogs & with another confident dog in the home to show him the world isn't so scary.' Unfortunately, because he is understandably and currently still quite scared, Tommy is designated as Rescue only status, meaning only a rescue group can save him and pull him out of the shelter. However, Rescue groups need fosters, or someone interested to foster to adopt as they need a place for him to go. Please note a rescue only dog cannot be adopted directly from the shelter, but we will try to connect you to a rescue group to help if possible. The shelter also said, 'We are happy to work with any adopter/foster that is backed by a rescue to pull. We would to see him get the love, socialization and training he needs. At this time unless there is a rescue working on placement he will be on our euthanasia. At this time we can extend to 8/26' Therefore, if you are a responsible chow savvy home or can foster or foster to adopt, please contact [email protected] asap or Southern California Chow Chow Rescue Network who is trying to find placement asap, and can try to pair fosters or interested parties with a willing rescue group. Ideally, we need a foster near the shelter or in N Cal. Rescue groups and serious inquiries may also contact the shelter at: [email protected] and [email protected] - please note ID and your interest in the subject line. We are also looking for anyone who is local and can go sit with him and see if they can get him to warm up further and trust people again. We will post additional pictures, videos and updates for this dear deserving boy on facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/783968124/posts/10169490286673125/?mibextid=wwXIfr Note: to view contents of link you will need to copy and paste it into your browser.
