Pls contact us by DM or email for serious inquiries DOWNEY, CA- LOS ANGELES COUNTY ANIMAL CONTROL- ID #A5792642 - 'MISS FINN'- A BEAUTIFUL PETITE YOUNGER CHOW GIRL IN NEED OF A SAVVY HOME, OR FOSTER AND RESCUE ASAP- SHY INITIALLY, BUT WARMING UP, OKAY W LARGER DOGS, NO SMALL DOGS- NEEDS IMMEDIATE PLACEMENT BY DEADLINE Dear Finn was found as a stray and taken in by someone for several weeks, but later brought to a high kill and very full shelter where her owner never showed. She is listed as only 36 lbs and is estimated to be 3 years old and understandably did not do well in a scary shelter environment initially, as is so common with the chow breed. While originally recommended and designated Rescue Only, the shelter has since made her available for adoption after she has warmed up in time. She can be seen in video enjoying pets to her chin and the company of other dogs in the playyard. The shelter has now said, 'she is ok for public adoption, no small dogs, large dogs ok adults only rec with a khoa. Her deadline is extended until 8/28. Hello her notes are updated on Trello'. Without a commitment though, she may be euthanized sadly. At her last behavior assessment on 8/17, 'Finn was avoidant of the leash, but the runner was able to gently toss the leash over her head. She walked nicely on leash while bypassing the other kennels. She was wary of being collared, but the runner moved slowly and was able to collar her. In the catch pen, her body was neutral. She entered the yard, and exchanged appropriate greetings with the other dogs. She was slightly timid at first, and panicked slightly when the other dogs tried to play with her. She roamed the yard with a relaxed body, soft eyes, and a neutral tail wag. She eventually engaged in vocal play with the other dogs, and solicited petting from the handlers. Finn is social with the other dogs, has a medium energy level, and prefers a push/pull playstyle.' Further details can be found here: https://trello.com/c/Xg24CCBZ While Finn can be seen in video doing fine with larger dogs and is noted by the shelter as being 'social' with them, the finder reported she went after their very small dog in the home unfortunately which was a chihuahua who was sadly injured badly. We are unclear what may have caused the attack, but Finn is recommended to a home with no other small dogs. We do not feel she would be safe with cats either or other small pets.
