Please read the bio in full for answers to common questions. If you have a question not covered here, please email [email protected]. If interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application at https://seniordoghaven.org/adoption-process/. Because all of our dogs live in foster homes, meet-and-greets are scheduled only after a completed application is received. Adoptions must be within a reasonable distance of Wilmington, DE so our volunteers can conduct an in-person home visit. Meet Daisy Lynn Daisy is a sweet senior girl who has mastered the art of enjoying the simple things in life. Estimated to be 10-12 years old and weighing 27 pounds, she's fully vetted and ready to find her forever retirement home. Daisy is blind, but she certainly doesn't let that stop her. She navigates her surroundings remarkably well using her other senses and has an amazing ability to learn her routine. Her foster mom is constantly amazed by how confidently Daisy gets around. She would do best in a home with minimal stairs, as she can occasionally misstep due to her vision. She is housebroken, walks well on a leash, handles being picked up without issue, and is generally an easy, low-maintenance companion. Got a yard? Daisy loves exploring and rolling around in the grass. A securely fenced yard would be wonderful for her, and we'd love for her to find a home with one, but it's not an absolute necessity. Have other dogs? Daisy thrives with respectful dogs and enjoys having canine companions around. She isn't an attention hog, but she happily enjoys whatever affection is offered and will freely offer up her adorable little belly. Feeling lazy after work? Perfect! Daisy doesn't need long cardio walks. She mostly walks in sniff circles on leash, so you're not going far and you're definitely not getting your heart rate up. Daisy came into our rescue after her owner lost their housing and, sadly, she had never received veterinary care. Since arriving, she has been treated for a UTI with no ongoing issues, received a dental, and is now getting the care she deserves. She takes Gabapentin and Trazodone, receives glaucoma eye drops (which she is not a fan of), and is kept current on her preventatives. Daisy doesn't need a busy life. She just needs a loving, patient home where she can enjoy her golden years surrounded by comfort, consistency, soft places to sleep, and people who appreciate her exactly as she is. We think Daisy is pretty perfect. We hope you will, too.
