Throughout her stay, however, she has exhibited consistently high in-kennel FAS (fear, anxiety, and stress), including alarm barking, raised hackles, baring teeth, and bluff charging. Outside of the kennel, MJ is generally easier to manage. She is easy to leash and remove from her kennel, frequently checks in with her handler, and has shown affiliation with staff. However, when additional handling was attempted, her tolerance decreased significantly. She initially displayed head flipping and then escalated to snapping toward staff. Due to this defensive behavior, staff were unable to safely vaccinate her. MJ has also demonstrated high arousal and concerning behavior around other dogs in the shelter, including barking, lunging, snapping, and intense fixation that has been difficult to redirect. Given her documented escalation with handling and interactions with other dogs, there are significant safety concerns for staff and other animals. MJ is available for rescue only. Waiver will need to be signed prior to leaving. A Rescue Group (RG) may request an extension of an animal's Needs Rescue Final Date no later than **10:00 a.m. on the noted final date** via email to [email protected] with a cc to a Division Manager or Shelter Operations Supervisor.
