About SISSY

SISSY is a 6 year old, 10.8 pound Shih Tzu who recently left her previous life as a breeding mama to begin a new one as a pet. She may not be handing out kisses just yet, but she has already shown that once she trusts someone, she wants to stay close. With a patient family willing to give her time to adjust and continue teaching her, this little girl will make a wonderful companion. SISSY is a sweet, quiet little girl who can be skittish at first and needs some time to feel safe and comfortable with new people. Once she begins to trust you, she wants to be close and will follow her person from room to room. In her foster home, she likes to curl up on the dog beds under her foster mom's desk while she works and will happily lie next to her on the couch. She allows her foster mom to pick her up and is becoming more comfortable with affection every day. SISSY gets along well with the other small dogs in her foster home, although she does not really play with them. She does enjoy toys and has even gotten into a friendly little toy-stealing competition with her little foster brother. They happily take toys from each other without any issues. Another little dog in the family will help her continue to build confidence and provid canine companionship and it is required for her new home. We do not know how she would do with cats and young kids will be scary for her. SISSY is making good progress with her potty training. She is taken outside first thing in the morning and every two to three hours throughout the day, although she still prefers using pee pads inside. She does not use the doggie door, and her foster family suspects that grass may have been completely new to her when she arrived. Her new family will need to continue patiently working with her on her outdoor potty routine. SISSY is not leash trained yet and will need continued practice with that as well. A fenced yard is required. She can use dog stairs to get on and off the couch and prefers to sleep in a dog bed beside her foster mom's bed at night. SISSY is spayed, up to date on shots, heartworm negative, has had a ProHeart 12 heartworm prevention shot, has had a dental, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. *To meet or adopt one of our dogs, you must first submit an adoption application for review. We adopt within a 6 hour drive to Pensacola. Puppies and dogs with pending vet appointments, and dogs with behavioral or medical issues are only adoptable locally (within 1 hour to Pensacola).
