About Shadow

Meet Shadow ��ժ Location: McAlester, OK DOB: 1/27/25 Shadow is a goofy, sweet Great Dane who simply wants to be wherever his people are. He's a well-mannered, easygoing boy who loves his family, enjoys being included, and has a wonderful ability to settle down when it's time to relax. Shadow has moderate energy. He's happy to go for a walk, but he doesn't need to be on the go all day. A romp in the backyard and some time with his toys are often more than enough. One of his favorite things is tossing his toys into the air and catching them! He is housebroken and crate trained, although his foster hasn't needed to kennel him because he does so well at home. He is comfortable being left alone and has good house manners. A home with a secure yard and doggie door would be a great fit for him. Shadow enjoys car rides and generally does well with other dogs. He has liked the dogs in the neighborhood and previously lived with another Great Dane successfully. He has also done well with children in his foster homes, including kids around 9-13 years old. Shadow is still working on his leash manners and can be very strong when something catches his attention. He has a significant prey drive toward small wildlife and birds. He once pulled his foster to the ground while chasing an armadillo, so his new family will need to be prepared to safely manage him on walks. A home without cats, chickens, or other small animals is essential. He should also be walked with appropriate equipment and by someone who can comfortably handle his strength. A previous foster mentioned some resource-guarding behavior, but his current foster has experienced no issues with this. When meeting new people, Shadow may initially be a little nervous or overly excited, but he warms up quickly and has done well with both men and women. He may bark at strangers outside. Shadow is the kind of dog who wants to be your shadow-following you around the house, investigating what you're cooking, and making sure you're never alone in the bathroom! ���� He could be a wonderful companion for a family or individual and may even have the temperament to become a great therapy dog. Shadow's ideal home: A loving home where he can be part of the family, receive continued leash training, and have someone who appreciates having a big, goofy companion by their side. His family should be comfortable managing his prey drive and strength and should not have cats or other small animals.
