Phoebe ('Birdy') - Great Dane Seeking a Loving, Patient Home Meet Phoebe, affectionately known as 'Birdy' (and lovingly nicknamed our 'house cow'), a beautiful merle-harlequin Great Dane with a big personality and an even bigger heart. She turned 4 years old on May 22, 2026. Phoebe is truly a 'velcro dog' - happiest when she's near her people. Whether it's lounging beside you on the couch or following you from room to room, she thrives on connection and companionship. She's affectionate, silly, and full of charm - the kind of dog who will make you laugh daily and happily lean in for cuddles any chance she gets. She does have a bit of a quirky side. Traditional command training has been a challenge for her, so she'll do best with someone patient, consistent, and willing to work with her in a way that fits her personality. She's not difficult in spirit - just independent and a little unconventional in how she learns. Phoebe is good with most other dogs as well as cats - though she tends to be a bit too curious and nosey for them. She has also been around small children and doesn't mind them, though Phoebe does not realize her size and may tend to be overly exuberant around those smaller than her! On walks, she does well using a face lead, which helps her stay manageable. She tends to pull on a standard neck leash, so continued use of a face lead or similar tool is recommended. She rides well in the car and gets in and out of vehicles easily - just say 'up,' and she'll happily hop right in. She currently eats Redbarn Large Breed Whole Grain dog food (about 12 cups per day, split into meals) and has always been fed from an elevated feeder. She is fully up to date on all vaccinations, including core and recommended optional vaccines. She is currently intact, but will be spayed prior to placement. We will schedule the appointment, and her new family will be able to pick her up once she is ready to go home. Her ideal home would be one where she can be part of daily life - not left alone for long stretches - with someone who appreciates her affectionate nature and understands that she may need a bit of patience and guidance rather than strict expectations. Phoebe has so much love to give and will make a deeply loyal companion for the right person or family.
