About POPPET

POPPET is an 18 month old, 11.4 pound pup who we believe is a Tibetan Spaniel mix. She was found as a stray, sitting on a bench waiting for someone to save her. POPPET may be one of the most affectionate little lap dogs you will ever meet. She is kissy, cuddly, and happiest when she is right next to her people. She loves attention, but she also has a playful side and enjoys a good game of fetch or tug. We think this fun little girl would love an active family who will take her along on walks, outings, and adventures. POPPET is friendly with the other dogs in her foster home and especially enjoys spending time with a male dog who is similar in size and close to her age. She can be a little intense about making friends and doesn't always understand personal space. If another dog gets in her face, she isn't aggressive, but she may get right back in theirs and stay there! Because of this, any canine companion will need to be a good personality match. If her family will be away from home regularly, we think having a small, compatible doggy friend close to her age would be especially helpful. We have not had her around kids but think she would be fine with them. We do not know how she would be with cats. POPPET loves her people so much that she does get a little upset when they leave. She may let out the lowest, saddest howl you have ever heard, but she settles down and waits patiently for them to return. When they do, she makes sure they know exactly how happy she is to see them with plenty of jumps, spins, and excited barks. Other than a few accidents when she first arrived, POPPET appears to be housebroken. She will even 'talk' to you when she needs to go outside. She has not had much experience walking on a leash yet, and because she likes to have a safe place to explore outside, a securely fenced yard is required. At night, POPPET sleeps in the big bed with her foster family, and personal space is definitely not part of her vocabulary. She needs to be snuggled up right next to someone. POPPET is spayed, up to date on shots, heartworm negative, has had a ProHeart 12 heartworm prevention shot and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. She had a cherry eye when she came in that we had repaired. *To meet or adopt one of our dogs, you must first submit an adoption application for review. We adopt within a 6 hour drive to Pensacola. Puppies and dogs with pending vet appointments, and dogs with behavioral or medical issues are only adoptable locally (within 1 hour to Pensacola).
