The shelter does not open until 11AM on Sundays so KING needs an exit plan ASAP. One-year-old King arrived at the shelter as a stray in June. He's a sweet, young, high energy boy who will happily crawl into your lap for pets, romp around with a toy, or engage and learn with treats on hand! He's eager to please, that is for sure! King has been in playgroup multiple times since arriving at the shelter. He is usually described as tolerant around the other pups but is noted to be sexually motivated (he's not neutered). Sadly, King caught an upper respiratory infection and had been in kennel isolation for over 3 weeks. He was only recently cleared but ALERTED & DEADLINED because of negative kennel behavior noted by supervisors during their recent kennel rounds (lunging, growling, air snapping through the kennel door). A young pup like King needs exercise and enrichment which he had not been getting due to his illness. So it's no surprise that he was frustrated and stressed in his kennel after being locked in it for over 20 days! Today, King went on a morning outing and was incredibly happy and excited to feel sunshine, breathe fresh air, and enjoy momentary freedom from cage confinement. Like all puppies, King would benefit from and thrive with basic puppy obedient training (when excited, he pulls on leash and can be jumpy and mouthy). He is a smart boy (knows sit, down) and is eager to connect. He deserves a fair chance and he needs a hero. King needs out by TOMORROW, SUNDAY 8/16 8AM. A foster, longterm adopter, or rescue can save his life. He's waiting at South LA Shelter! KING #A2280845 1yr old, 47 Ibs, male
