Maeve's Story Age: 2 years Weight: 38 lbs Sex: Female, spayed Personality: Energetic Super Sweet Fast Learner Energy Level: High (classic young GSP) About Maeve Maeve is a young, petite 2-year-old female who came to the shelter with her sister, Ginny, after their owner surrendered them because the landlord wouldn't allow dogs in the apartment. She arrived scared, overwhelmed, and with very little training - but she has been blossoming quickly in her foster home. She's truly a diamond in the rough whose personality is still emerging. Maeve is bright, athletic, super sweet, affectionate, and eager to learn. With patience and structure, she's showing us just how much potential she has. Training & Routine Maeve had almost no training when she arrived, but she's learning fast. She currently: -Is crate trained (with a treat) -Knows sit, stay, paw, off -Is very food-motivated -Is mostly housebroken (watch for her cues) -Loves to cuddle once her energy is out She still needs leash training - she pulls with excitement - but she responds well to guidance and consistency. Dog Interactions Maeve has been introduced slowly and carefully to her foster family's senior dogs. She has done well with supervised interactions and is learning to understand other dogs cues. -No food resource guarding -Foster is watchful with toys, antlers, and stuffed Kongs -Normal GSP prey drive (chases squirrels, butterflies, lightning bugs) -No exposure to cats She's playful, social, and enthusiastic - just still learning boundaries. Children Maeve does not live with children but has met some. She was shy at first and warmed up slowly. Because she gets zoomies and has a long, happy tail, she could accidentally knock down a small child. A home with older kids or dog-savvy children (around 6+ years old) would be ideal. Activities & Ideal Lifestyle Maeve is fast, athletic, and smart - she would shine in dog sports or any active home. She loves: -Fetch -Walks and runs -Dog puzzles -Learning new skills -Playtime with other dogs She's a great fit for adopters who enjoy training, exercise, and helping a young GSP grow into her best self. Ideal Home Maeve will thrive in an active household that enjoys exercise, structure, and continued training. She would do well with dog-savvy kids, ideally 6 years and older. If there are other dogs in the home, they should match her energy level and enjoy playful, enthusiastic interactions. A large fenced yard would be ideal so she has space to run, explore, and burn off her energy safely. If you're looking for a dog who can keep up with an active day and then cuddle hard once she's tired, Maeve may be your new BFF. Fun Fact Maeve loves looking at her reflection - her foster family calls her Queen Maeve.
