About Dot in Lafayette

All inquiries should be directed to Dot's owner at [email protected] Dot is a 3 year old, spayed Jack Russell Terrier. She is also up to date on all vaccines and has not had any medical issues. Dot requires A LOT of exercise to stay happy. She is very well loved and well exercised and a lifestyle that doesn't include daily walks would not be suitable for her. She is a Jack Russell to her core with endless energy. She loves to snuggle once you wear her out. She has never chewed something she is not supposed to, but if she's not properly exercised she acts out by pacing the house and barking too much. Dot doesn't sleep in our bed, when we've tried, she gets out of bed multiple times a night - the crate has worked great for her though. Dot will scratch at her crate if she needs to use the bathroom. We make sure to wait until it subsides before we let her out so it doesn't become an issue. She is still having accidents inside, we struggle with discipline and have never gotten it fully under control but she is VERY receptive to training, but we struggle with consistency due to our schedules. Dot was professionally trained by K-9 Offleash Training. She knows to sit, shake, place, come, and stay - but struggles with stay. Dot loves being sprayed with the hose, chasing the hose, and swimming. She loves taking a bath. The few times she's experienced snow, she loved it. She will stay outside and play independently in the yard for hours if you are also outside, but she will park by the door if left outside alone. Dot loses her mind when she sees dogs on tv, it requires discipline or redirection. She is skittish around kids and comes from a child free home, but she has never shown aggression to kids she meets on walks - she just cowers from them because they are unfamiliar. So a home with no kiddos is best. Also, her owner needs to be familiar with the JRT personality. Dot requires a home with no little critters like parakeets, hamsters, bunnies etc. Dot has never shown food aggression. She prefers women, but hasn't shown aggression towards men. While she's the only dog in our home, she spends multiple days a week at doggie daycare. Her daycare places her with the bigger dogs due to her energy levels being a better fit to play with larger dogs. She would love a 'big brother', maybe a younger dog that would play with her. Dot needs a securely fenced back yard. No short chainlink, no wrought iron, no electronic fencing. Her new owner needs to be able to go out there and play with her, squirt the water, throw a ball, teach her some tricks. Dot is not a Russell Rescue dog.
