German Shepherd mix
Age: Young Adult

MEET REX! Sometimes the dogs who have been through the most become the ones who have the most love to give. Meet Rex, a gorgeous approximately 2-year-old German Shepherd mix with a big heart, a gentle soul, and so much love to give. Rex's life didn't begin the way any dog's should. He was rescued from a homeless encampment after living outside in the desert. When he was found, he was covered in fleas and ticks and had scars across his body- evidence of a life filled with hardship and neglect. He was terrified. When Rex was first rescued, he was so frightened and shut down that he couldn't even bring himself to walk to the rescue vehicle. He had to be carried. But even through all that fear, Rex never showed aggression toward the people trying to help him. He was simply scared and unsure of the world around him. All he needed was patience, kindness, and someone to show him that he was finally safe. And slowly, Rex began to trust. As the fear faded, the sweetest personality started to shine through. Today, Rex is healthy, has gained weight, and is neutered and vaccinated. But even more importantly, Rex has discovered something he may have never known before: What it feels like to belong. Rex is an incredibly affectionate, loving, gentle big baby. He loves being close to his people, soaking up affection, relaxing at home, going for walks, exploring outdoors, and simply being included in everyday life. He has shown no reactivity toward people or other animals and enjoys being part of whatever his humans are doing. After everything Rex has survived, we don't want his next home to be temporary. We want his next home to be his forever home. Rex would thrive with a family who truly considers their dog part of the family, not a dog who is simply left outside or in the backyard. An active or outdoorsy family who enjoys walks, adventures, exploring, and spending weekends together could be a wonderful match for this beautiful boy. But more than anything, Rex needs someone who will look at him and see a family member. Someone who will give him a soft bed, a safe home, a loving hand, and the security of knowing that he will never have to wonder where he belongs again. Rex doesn't need anyone to feel sorry for him. He just needs someone to choose him. He has already shown us how incredibly resilient, trusting, forgiving, and loving a dog can be |even after experiencing hardship that no dog should ever have to endure. Now it's Rex's turn. His past doesn't define him. His scars don't define him. What happened to him doesn't define him. The love he has to give does. Rex has waited long enough for his happy ending. Now he deserves the very best chapter of his life- a forever family who will love him, protect him, include him, and stand by him for the rest of his life. Choose Rex. Give him the forever he has always deserved. If interested in adopting Rex, please contact Nathalie with The Dog Services: [email protected] or at 1-424-206-0904.
