Tucker is an estimated 4-year-old, 8-pound Pomeranian with a sweet, affectionate personality and a pretty incredible rescue story. Tucker was originally found after being dumped in a parking lot in Sugar Land. A man picked him up and took him to a vet to have him scanned for a microchip, but unfortunately, there wasn't one. After calling shelters and being unable to find anywhere that could take him, he planned to release Tucker back outside. Thankfully, a woman at the vet clinic overheard what was happening and stepped in. She took Tucker home rather than let him end up loose again and reached out to rescue for help. When Tucker arrived, he was badly matted, particularly around his back end, where dried feces had become tangled in his coat. He also had fleas and some hair loss from all the itching. After flea treatment, grooming, and plenty of TLC, he's looking and feeling so much better. Some of his coat is still growing back, but he's well on his way to becoming the fluffy little guy he was meant to be. And despite everything, Tucker is an incredibly happy, loving dog. He absolutely loves his people and would happily spend his days curled up beside someone getting pets. If you make the mistake of stopping before Tucker has decided the petting session is over, he'll gently paw at you to remind you that your job is not yet complete. Tucker gets along wonderfully with other dogs and will even play with them. He mostly ignores cats and did great with the older children, ages 12 and 13, who visited his foster home. He doesn't bark much, although he will occasionally have a very important conversation with the neighbor dogs when they start barking. He's also got a playful side and loves doing zoomies around the backyard. Tucker knows how to sit for treats, walks on a leash, rides well in the car, and does well going outside to potty when kept on a regular schedule. He sleeps peacefully through the night and currently chooses the couch as his preferred sleeping accommodations. Tucker can be crated, but he's such a well-behaved little guy that his foster hasn't found much need for it. He also does wonderfully for baths, brushing, and grooming. Tucker is fully vetted, including a full exam, neuter, dental, vaccinations, microchip, deworming, and fecal testing. He is heartworm negative and current on monthly heartworm and flea prevention. After nearly being put back out on the street, Tucker is more than ready for the part of his story where he gets a family, a comfy lap, and never has to wonder where he belongs again. Tucker is located in Austin, TX, and his adoption fee is $550. Apply to adopt at www.tpsrescue.com
