It's been about two weeks since I'd found this cat on my evening walk with my pups. He was eating out of a Chinese take-out bag, and DEATHLY thin. Removing him from the bag, with some help from a neighbour, we saw he was VERY friendly and familiar with dogs (tho my dogs were FAR too excitable for his liking. I managed to get Salem to follow me home, but beyond the dogs, I didn't have anywhere I could ensure his safety. His eyes are clear, but appears exhausted from what i can only guess is outdoor life. He has some matted fur, patches missing from his front legs, and balding appears on his chest now - a myriad of possibilities, none of which are great... BUT, he's regained a LOT of body & strength from feedings as many as 3 times a day, that now i'm not sure if he's an elder cat, but all behaviours tell me he WAS a domestic cat, responds to loving pets sometimes even more than food! I was sweeping the garage today, and for the first time since his stay, he dashed away from me and hid behind a box until I put the broom away, and immediately came back to me. Needless to say, whatever home he had, it wasn't much. But, he's experienced love, and deserves it again.... tho, unfortunately, because of arrangements at my own house, I cannot give him what he deserves. He still has yet to be neutered, as i'm sure he needs vaccinations, the whole 9. It's a lot to ask, but after all the other places I've called, and knowing what might happen to him, I'm hoping this meets the eyes of someone willing to take a chance, and give 'Salem' another chance, as well :)
