Name: Ginger Age: 9 years old Breed: Chihuahua/Dachshund Mix, 12 pounds Sex: Female (spayed) Location: New Haven County, Connecticut Due to changes in owner's living situation, owner is no longer able to provide the stable environment that Ginger needs to thrive. Vet Info: Ginger developed glaucoma in one eye and needed to have it removed. Her remaining eye is developing a cataract - veterinary ophthalmologist evaluated her and believes that she would be a candidate for surgery. Ginger is otherwise in good health. She is current with her vaccinations and HW-. Ginger is not microchipped. Dog Info: Ginger has been with owner since she was one. She is very much loved by the family. Owner needs her to be in an environment with consistency, patience and the attention that she deserves. Ginger is an indoor dog that during the warmer months, prefers to spend most of the day outside. She has an electric fence and does well with it. This is not recommended in a new home as it will be a new environment. Ginger is housebroken and leash trained. She knows the commands sit, stay and paw. She has never had any formal obedience training. Ginger is an outgoing girl that is good with men, women and children of all ages. She gets along with both male and female dogs, cats and other small animals. Ginger is not possessive with treats, toys or food and is not at all aggressive. Ginger will adapt well once she becomes familiar with her surroundings. Ginger likes having a space of her own, her crate, and once she feels that safety she will thrive.
