Jenny is a lover of people and truly a protector. She always has an eye out on a walk and is gentle on the leash. She patrols the yard for the hawks and other critters but has never been a working dog. She did have heart worms but we paid for treatment and she was such a rock-star with it. She will officially be cleared (1 year after finding them) this September. She is UTD on all shots & spayed. Jenny MUST be an only pet. We found her at a local kill shelter in NC and asked to foster her to make sure she was a good fit with the two other dogs we currently have (Great Dane-M & Husky-F). We were told that large dogs were not allowed to be fostered but could be adopted and returned. Note that this kill shelter kills a high number of animals each month and returning would not be something we would consider lightly. We have fostered many dogs over the years with the two we have and knew that integration would take some time. We also knew that it would take Jenny several months to feel at home. She is very alpha and unfortunately, she has attacked our female Husky several times, never drawing any blood, but I believe that is because we are always with the dogs and try to separate them as quickly as possible. There is no set trigger, and we can go 4+ months with nothing and then an incident. Once we came to the conclusion that these outbursts were not getting better, and just unsafe for both dogs & our children, we did reach back out to the shelter. They asked that we join rehoming sites and try to rehome her on our own. We tried that for about 5 months with no luck. We then reached back out to the shelter and they said they were full. We don't want her in a kill shelter, as she would be a wonderful solo dog. We want what is best for her. We are currently in CA and willing to drive her, within reason, to her perfect future. She just wants a life of adventure with her and her human.
