About Wren

German Shepherd / Australian Cattle Dog
Age: Adult
Sex: Female

Hi, I'm Wren. %A4%8D Before anyone knew my name, I was just another little dog trying to survive. I wasn't alone, though. I had my best friend, Winnie. ٴ We did everything together. We searched for food together, slept curled up beside each other when the nights were cold, and faced a world that wasn't always kind. She was my family. As long as I had her, I felt brave enough to keep going. Then everything changed. Kind people found us and fought so hard to save her. Winnie finally got to know what it felt like to have a warm bed, a full belly, and people who loved her. She had six beautiful days of being someone's dog. It wasn't enough. I never got to tell her goodbye. One day she was beside me, and the next I was alone. I ended up at the shelter, scared and confused, listening to barking dogs and wondering why the only friend I'd ever known wasn't coming back. I didn't understand any of it. I just kept waiting. Then someone looked at me and decided my story wasn't end there, too. The same rescue that saved Winnie. They named me Wren. ٴ I like to think maybe Winnie left a little piece of her courage behind for me because, even though I'm still shy, I'm trying so hard. ٴ The truth is, I'm not the dog who's going to race across the room and jump into your arms. I wish I could be. I just need a little time to believe that I'm finally safe. At first, I'll probably watch you from across the room. I'll quietly learn your routine and listen to your voice. Then one day, you'll notice I'm following you into the kitchen. The next day, I'll choose to nap nearby. Before long, you'll catch me looking at you with my whole heart, and you'll realize you've earned something incredibly special. My trust. I don't get snappy when I'm scared. I don't lash out. If something feels overwhelming, I simply step away and wait until I feel safe again. After spending so much of my life surviving, I'm still learning that love doesn't disappear overnight. The good news is I'm already house trained, crate trained, and I walk nicely on a leash. I also happen to think treats are pretty wonderful, so I'm always happy to learn when snacks are involved. I love other dogs, too. They make the world feel a little less scary, and I'd be so happy to have a confident canine friend to help show me that everything is going to be okay. More than anything, I'm looking for someone patient. Someone who understands that healing isn't measured by giant moments, but by tiny victories. A wag that wasn't there yesterday. A gentle nudge of my nose. Choosing to sit beside you because I've finally realized you're home. I survived life on the streets. I survived losing the only family I had. Now I'm ready for something I've never really had before. A family that's forever. S If you choose me, I can't promise to love you loudly right away. But I can promise that when my heart finally belongs to you, it will be the quietest, deepest, most grateful kind of love you've ever known. Maybe Winnie was always meant to save me. ٴ Maybe her story is the reason mine gets to have a happy ending. Love, Wren %A4%8D https://www.realrottweilerrescue.com/dogs/wren-vnnf
