About Mia

Mia is an 11�'��month�'��old Border Collie who does not want to spend her very first birthday (8/22!) in a shelter. She's young, bright, social, and so ready to celebrate that milestone in a real home. Mia originally came to us as a transfer from one of our partner rescues to participate in Clear the Shelters. She was relinquished in her previous home simply because her energy level didn't match the household - she was well cared for, just too active for that environment. Mia is wonderfully crate trained, rides calmly when crated in a vehicle, and is very appropriate when meeting adult humans and other dogs. She has briefly met cats in foster and shows potential to live with them given slow introductions and clear boundaries. On leash she walks reasonably well, though she'll benefit from continued training, and adopters will be encouraged to enroll in classes to help her thrive. This girl wants to be everyone's friend. She loves being present with her people, enjoys social environments, and would make an excellent hiking buddy. Mia is also a rough�'��and�'��tumble play�'��style dog, so she will need another dog in the home who enjoys that kind of interaction. Mia will shine in an active, social household with other dogs, an interest in training, and plenty of opportunities to keep her young brain busy. She's ready to be someone's adventure partner, couch companion, and birthday girl - she just needs her person.
