About Oakley

��%BD��%BD%90%BE Looking for the Right Home for Our Oakley ��%BD��%BD%90%BE This is an incredibly difficult post for our family to make, but after a lot of thought, we have made the heartbreaking decision to find a new home for our sweet boy, Oakley. ��%BD��%BD%A4Z Oakley is a purebred Rhodesian Ridgeback and will be 2 years old on October 26th. He is potty trained, incredibly loving with his people, loyal, smart, and very protective of his home and family. He has all of the wonderful guardian qualities that Ridgebacks are known for. Unfortunately, Oakley has had incidents involving our daughter, including a bite. With small children in our home and now a new baby, we simply cannot take the risk of another incident. As painful as this decision is, our responsibility is to protect our children while also doing what is best for Oakley. We want to be very clear that we still believe Oakley is a good dog. We don't believe every dog is the right fit for every household, and we have come to accept that our home-with young children-is simply not the right environment for him. Because of his history, Oakley cannot go to a home with small children. We would only consider a home with adults or a family with older children, preferably 15+, and ideally someone who understands large, strong guardian breeds and is comfortable providing structure, boundaries, training, and plenty of love. We are not looking to simply give him away to the first person who asks. Finding a safe, responsible, permanent home for him is extremely important to us, and we will be very selective. We want his next home to truly be his forever home. ��%BD��%BD%A4Z This decision has been heartbreaking because Oakley is part of our family and we love him very much. Sometimes loving an animal also means recognizing when your home is no longer the best environment for them.
