Nala is a sweet and gentle dog who has never known an easy or good life. She was originally one of two dogs that belonged to my neighbor, but even then she had it rough. My neighbor doesn't work and hasn't since I met him in 2022. He was frequently unable to feed Nala and the other dog in the home (who has since passed), and frequently goes long stretches without electricity or water.. So when Nala had 8 puppies in a freezing cold and dirty closet I tried to convince my neighbor to rehome them all as soon as they were old enough. He kept half of them. He refused multiple offers to spay and neuter them for free, and at one point he had 15 dogs in his back yard. They've since dwindled down to 6 or 7. None of the dogs have ever seen a vet, and they rarely, have enough food. Nala has injuries from being attacked by the other dogs during feedings. Nala recently started escaping from the back yard and is most frequently found in my yard or in the vacant yard next door. Animal control has issued a warning to my neighbor about Nala and a few of his other dogs being loose, and his solution is to take her to the pound or to just let them pick Nala up. The Little Rock animal shelter is overcrowded and had the highest euthanasia rate of any shelter in Arkansas, and going there is almost a certain death for a dog like Nala. If anyone is interested in taking Nala before she is picked up by or taken to the shelter I will pay for her shots and for her to be spayed. I will try to take and post a better picture of her. You can't tell in the picture, but she is extremely thin and bony, and would probably look much different with weight on her. I realize she's not a border collie but couldn't even begin to guess what she actually is.
