X URGENT- STOCKTON, CA (CENTRAL & N CAL)- AFFECTIONATE, YOUNGER MALE CHOW 'OSO' FOUND ABANDONED AFTER OWNER MOVED, BUT HAS SINCE BEEN VETTED AND NOW AVAILABLE TO ADOPT - IN NEED OF A LOVING, RESPONSIBLE HOME, IDEALLY W/ CHOW EXPERIENCE- we do not want him to end up at the shelter will he will be at great risk since they are full- in a temporary foster home, but May be shelter bound if no home is found soon. Please help us find a loving, responsible home for handsome and sweet Oso. Neighbors reported seeing him for several months roaming the neighborhood where he was periodically fed, after his owner moved away. Thankfully, some local good Samaritans helped to get safely him off the street where he was in matted, thin condition at the time, and seemed to have burned paws from the soaring temperatures. Another good Samaritan is now temporarily fostering him through the Stockton shelter, who has a new program that provided vaccinations and neuter while keeping him out of the shelter where he would like be placed on the euthanasia list to be being full. The temp foster has also had him groomed now, and says Oso loves to be brushed. They have also taken him also to a private vet who estimated he is only 2-3 years old and is only 49 lbs so Oso is perfect size. He has no known medical issues other than he just developed a hot spot (possibly from the heat), and now has medicine for that. He will be neutered this week and his stray hold ends next week so we need to find a home asap as we do not want him ending up at the shelter as the foster cannot hold indefinitely. The current foster reports he is very affectionate with the husband and wife who he trusts and bonded with within days. We have nice videos of Oso loving to be pet and giving kisses on the face. With children, while he has also been loving, on occasion, he was a bit reactive after possibly be startled or overstimulated, causing him to nip a little. Therefore, a home with no children is requested, Neighbors also reported seeing hanging around other dogs. So while we think he is dog friendly or friendly with certain dogs, we recommend a meet and greet with any other dogs in the home. Please note the foster has cats he wanted to chase, and a dog who is not friendly so Oso is having to stay outside where it is very hot. We are looking for a loving home where he can live as an indoor pet. Therefore. if you are interested in applying to adopt Oso, please contact [email protected] or Southern California Chow Chow Rescue Network who is assisting with his placement. We will be posting more pictures and videos of Oso on facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/debbie.alder.14/posts/pfbid0n7cpj7PkVu1N1MwzB2zdaUVXEH8WtuqPDsr8HbqqAJn1FPVF1mVXmhqBgSFVhDL5l Note: to view contents of link (videos and photos) you will need to copy and paste it into your browser.
