About Huey

One fateful day last August, 3-month-old Huey and his brothers Dewey and Louie were dumped at a festival in El Morro, New Mexico. Lucky for them, they went home with a dog rescuer who took them in and raised them on her ranch. After a year in foster in rural New Mexico, this sweet young gentleman has made his way to Colorado to find love and adventure! Huey is a bit of a shy guy and can take a minute to warm up to new people, but is very sweet and good-natured. He loves giving kisses and getting lots of cuddles, but he's happy to entertain himself as well. He's pretty much as easy as it gets for a younger dog. He is crate trained, house trained, and walks well on leash. He stays nearby when hiking off-leash. He doesn't mark. He's easy to train with food or praise. He doesn't get on furniture. He's good with other dogs and will play when they want to but also respects boundaries. Really the perfect guy. He just needs a patient, confident person to help him adjust to life outside of rural New Mexico! Huey would be a great option for a working professional who can't be home all day but wants a buddy for adventures after work, but he would do well in most homes, as long as his human is willing to help him build some confidence.
