Hunley is an adorable 4-month-old male Golden Retriever mix who came to the shelter as a stray. This happy little guy is everything you could want in a puppy-affectionate, playful, social, and eager to learn! During his temperament evaluation, Hunley showed just how friendly and easygoing he can be. Hunley is currently learning how to sit and will need a family ready to continue teaching him all those important puppy basics. His leash manners are already pretty good for such a young pup! He may pull when he gets excited about seeing another person or dog, but he responds well to gentle leash guidance. He is also food motivated, takes treats gently with a reminder, and showed no finger nipping during his evaluation. Hunley loves attention and calmly sought out more affection when he was petted. He was comfortable with full-body handling-including having his paws, toes, ears, tail, collar, and body touched. His evaluator summed him up perfectly: 'very wiggly-super sweet!' His teeth exam was a little challenging only because this excited puppy wanted to wiggle instead of sitting still! Hunley loves to play and showed a nice, appropriate level of excitement with toys. Even better, he showed no concerning toy or possession guarding. He readily released an item and allowed it to be taken away during his evaluation. Hunley was completely comfortable with his food being handled during his evaluation and showed no signs of food guarding. He was fine with hands around and in his bowl. One thing is certain, though-this boy LOVES his food and eats FAST! A slow-feeder bowl would probably be a great addition to his new home. Hunley had a great time meeting another dog named Bambi. He was friendly, playful, and relaxed, and his evaluator noted that he played politely and with good manners. His final assessment listed him as likely all-around dog friendly! Hunley also did wonderfully during his cat evaluation. He approached the cat politely, sniffed, and then simply walked away with a loose, relaxed, waggy body. He was easily redirected and showed no concerning fixation or predatory behavior during the evaluation. His final assessment: Likely Cat Friendly! At only 4 months old, Hunley has so much potential. He'll need the normal things every puppy needs-patience, positive-reinforcement training, socialization, exercise, playtime, and lots of love. In return, you'll get one incredibly sweet little sidekick who is ready to learn everything you have to teach him. Hunley didn't get to choose how his story started-but he's ready to choose his family. Come meet this sweet, wiggly boy and see if Hunley is the missing piece of yours! https://www.oconeecountyga.gov/forms.aspx?FID=80
