About Mr. Black

He first arrived at the shelter in April. He was picked up by animal control as a stray and is estimated to be about 2 years old. He got a good note from staff on intake saying he was friendly, energetic, and treat motivated. They were able to do his intake exam and give him vaccinations without issue. He's had two bouts of kennel confinement for Giardia since arriving and is now back on kennel confinement for diarrhea, so he just can't catch a break. On top of that, his owners came to redeem him at one point, but ended up leaving without processing the redemption, and now Mr. Black is officially out of time for kennel stress. Who can blame him though? He's a young, energetic dog who has spent most of his stay confined to a concrete box. When we had Mr. Black out, he was super friendly and a lot of fun! He was very treat motivated, loved playing with toys, and accepted pets all over his body. He also was bathed by the groomer who said he was friendly and enjoyed being massaged. He does well in playgroups too! Due to all of his kennel confinement, he's only been in 10 times, but he's consistently described as social. He likes higher energy play, but can also be assertive at times. Mr. Black is euth-listed for negative kennel behavior while on his extended confinements (barking, snapping, lunging through kennel door). He will be put to sleep on MONDAY 8/10 anytime after 8AM. He's available for foster, adoption, and rescue. Please help him get to safety! He's waiting at South Los Angeles Shelter. *The shelter is closed to the public on Mondays so adoptions/fostering must be done by SUN 5pm, otherwise you must find a rescue to pull by Monday morning or email and ask if they'll hold him until Tuesday MR BLACK #A2267985 2 yrs old, 49 lbs
