About Tosa

TOSA- 18 year-old 15.3 hand Thoroughbred mare- companion/pasture pet only. Tosa was surrendered to HRU in July 2026 when her owner of 14 years could no longer afford her. An off-the-track Thoroughbred, she spent 12 years in a program giving lessons to children and adults from beginners to 2'6' jumpers. Tosa is now retired due to arthritis in her left front knee and seeking her forever home as a companion/pasture pet. She may have broken a knee bone while racing and it healed misaligned with osteoarthritis. Thankfully she still gets around a paddock just fine, living barefoot and only on Equioxx daily to manage her arthritis. According to her last home, Tosa prefers to be the 'top mare' in turnout and is first to her food, but good with other horses. She is kid-safe on the ground and an absolute pleasure to be around with good manners. Asking $100 donation to an approved home with contract with a minimum 60 day trial period.
