VESPER must be adopted or rescued by 4PM SUN 8/9 or he will be put down. The shelter is already putting down healthy dogs for space! VESPER came to the South LA shelter as a skinny, sick stray dog in late April. By early May, he was not gaining weight and had blood in his urine. Clinic treated him for an upper respiratory infection and, thankfully, VESPER improved. By June, we posted VESPER as a healthy looking, squatty, pittie potato. But, recently, VESPER lost weight and had very dark urine again (indicating blood in urine). He started antibiotics on 7/29 and, subsequently, has not had blood in his urine. We hope someone can give this good boy a fighting chance out of the shelter environment and provide him with proper vet care. All you have to do is meet VESPER and he will waddle his way into your heart. He is a lower energy player with other dogs in playgroup (with a gentle dainty play style). He gives appropriate greetings and appropriate corrections in playgroup, is tolerant of other dogs, and often mingles. An unaltered male dog, VESPER can be sexually motivated at times (low energy humping) but will be neutered as part of any placement. He is easy on leash, sweet with volunteers, and even the shelter groomer gives good marks reporting that VESPER was cooperative, friendly, and well behaved during bath time.
