The shelter is often FULL, which leads to perfectly good doggies being euthanized for lack of space!!! Which dogs are chosen is a crapshoot. Owner surrenders, such as Luka, are at increased risk, since they sign papers that state, that is a risk. Luka arrived on July 24th, so hasn't been at the shelter for long. Is 6 years old; owner surrender note states: 'can't keep'. He is labeled as a purebred Shepherd, but even though am not an expert, looks like a mix to me, but very Shepherd-like looking. Either way, the boy is at risk of a tragic ending, so PLEASE email to come out and meet sweet Luka! Per shelter volunteer video, he is afraid of being there, not surprising at all, has his tail tucked, but does take treats readily from the volunteer, has a very good sit, even gives paw, and likes his treats. Sadly, is on the skinny side. Luka can also be fostered or fostered to adopt, through a rescue org., besides adopted from the shelter. If adopted straight from the shelter, he will be neutered at no charge, same for microchipping and heartworm testing. If want to see other wonderful dogs, who are also in great need of finding a loving home, scroll down & click on, 'Chicago Animal Care and Control', left-hand side. Come. Please.
