You are encouraged to call the shelter for updated information and availability, and to answer your specific questions. Poseidon's Story Poseidon here! I'm an outgoing guy who is about 4 years and weighs about 75 lbs. I am such a happy, happy guy who wants to play, be loved on and give love! I have lived with little kids before, but staff were never given an update on how I was with them. I lived with them for a year, so they hope I did well! I've met new dogs here and have lived with another dog and have done well with both. Toys are my favorite and I'm happy to entertain myself by throwing them in the air and catching them. Did you know I love to roll around in the grass? It's one of my favorite hobbies here at the shelter. I went on a day out with some wonderful volunteers and this is what they had to say: Our family recently spent one of our treasured Dog's Day Outs with Poseidon! If you've been looking for an ultimate catch: this UniCorn is waiting to light up your life. Poseidon is a GOOD and handsome boy with a luxurious deep, dark chocolate brown coat that shines and looks just like velvet. My goodness, does his beauty light up in the sunshine... his coat is gorgeous. He's sturdy and just slightly on the larger side- he can be a bit strong and pull'ish at the leash, but we stand witness that with just the slightest bit of work: he walks very nicely at the heel. He also has a very strong 'sit' game! While on a neighborhood walk, Poseidon was confronted by several very rowdy fenced in dogs, and he demonstrated great restraint by very politely remaining disengaged. He showed the same easy respect to humans walking by as well. He was one of the easiest, most respectful walkers we've had yet. We do have cats and chickens here: Poseidon did show some elevated interest and lunging at both (especially the chickens). We are reminded that he may have never seen these critters before in his short life, so this may be something to think about. Now if you get a kick out of playing fetch with a furry best friend, you will NOT find a better ball player than Poseidon. He catches the ball every. single. time. Every single time! That said, he knows when it's play time and then also hunkered right on down for a nap (or three!) when we felt like taking it easy from the heat. He is one of those boys who knows how to 'read the room' and match your energy, which is awesome. We've got big kids here, and I'll just say there were lots of cuddles & kisses during downtime. He appears to be very well potty trained and takes treats just so sweet & gently. Overall: Poseidon has an easy going, loving personality and truly just goes with the flow. If you're looking for someone who would love to sniff the neighborhood on gentle walks and then come cuddle up with you for chill time: he's your boy I'm fixed, vaccinated, microchipped and up to date on parasite preventatives. I am $185 to bring home! If you are interested, please call the shelter at (541) 474-5458. You can view more adoptable pets at www.jocoshelter.com/adoptions . Walk-ins are welcome, however we highly recommend calling first to check on availability and location (some animals may be offsite or unavailable). Appointments are recommended to reduce wait times, especially for dogs. Thank you!
