Her owner had LOLA since she was a puppy but could no longer support LOLA or LOLA's pups. (LOLA came to the shelter with two of her puppies, both of whom were adopted). Understandably mama LOLA was scared and confused after losing the only family and home she has ever known. She was initially a flight risk, wary of handling, and overwhelmed in playgroup. But this good girl made made significant progress and became affectionate and affiliative with her handlers. In playgroup, LOLA mostly keeps to herself, mingling at times, sticking close to handlers, and giving over corrections to other dogs for space. Shelter life is hard on this sweet girl. But out of the shelter environment, this tender-hearted darling shines. She was 'exceptionally well behaved' on a pack walk with volunteers and other dogs. LOLA was easy to handle, great on leash, happy, and loving. She readily gave cuddles and kisses, enjoyed being part of the pack, accepted treats and pets from strangers, and joyfully bounced and zoomed around in a grassy area. LOLA was unfazed by a busy playground w/kids and calm & unbothered by dogs, joggers, and noisy crowds. Her previous owner noted that LOLA was gentle around kids, friendly with strangers, and relaxed around cats. Doesn't this sound like a dog worth saving? Please help our girl. LOLA needs an adopter, foster, or rescue by 8AM SAT 8/8 or she will be euthanized at the shelter.
