About Roosevelt

Roosevelt Has Arrived In Wisconsin! Roosevelt has made it to Wisconsin from a high-intake kill shelter in Georgia and this incredibly deserving boy is looking for the second chance he has been waiting for! Meet Roosevelt Roosevelt is a 10-month-old Pointer mix (our best guess) who has already come such a long way. Roosevelt was rescued from a hoarding and neglect case after being seized from a property where multiple dogs were living in extremely poor conditions. When he arrived at the shelter, he was severely malnourished and weighed only 27 pounds. Thankfully, Roosevelt is a completely different dog today. After receiving the food, medical care, and TLC he desperately needed, he has blossomed into a healthy, happy 50-pound boy. He had some skin issues to overcome before he was cleared to travel, but he is now past all of that and is looking and feeling great! Roosevelt also spent some time in a foster home in Georgia where he continued to do well and show what an all-around good dog he is. He did okay around cats, but might want to chase a cat if it was running. Unfortunately, his foster family was unable to keep him longer, so Roosevelt he spent some time back at the shelter before he got his ride north to Wisconsin. Despite the change, he did well and is ready for his next chapter. Roosevelt is great with other dogs and loves to play. He has an easygoing, happy personality and is the kind of dog who just wants to enjoy life and be part of a family. After everything this sweet boy has been through, it is wonderful to see him looking healthy, happy, and ready for a forever home. From his WI foster: Roosevelt has settled in nicely over the past several days. He is playful and curious, but also a bit of a couch potato. He has not had any accidents in the house, sleeps through the night and does good in a crate when I'm at work. He does amazing on walks and hikes with impressive leash manners. I also had the opportunity to bring him to mulitiple social events over the weekend and he was a dream! Calm and gentle with every person he met and friendly and playful with any dog he met. He is great with kids of any age. He had yet to be tested with cats, but I could see him doing just fine with them. Now Roosevelt just needs someone to give him the chance he has been waiting for. He has already made an incredible transformation - going from a severely malnourished 27-pound dog to a healthy 50-pound boy - and we cannot wait to see what the rest of his story looks like.%BD%A0 Age: 10 months%BD%A0 Gender: Male%BD%A0 Weight: 50 pounds%BD%A0 Breed: Pointer Mix (best guess)%BD%A0 Neutered: Yes%BD%A0 Potty Trained: Yes Crate Trained: Yes Leash Manners: Good%BD%A0 Good with Dogs: Yes%BD%A0 Good with Cats: Okay%BD%A0 Good with Kids: Yes%BD%A0 Roosevelt has overcome so much in his short life, and now he deserves the chance to experience what it means to have a family of his own.
