About Charles

****When responding PLEASE tell us a bit about yourself(home, yard/fence, other pets, family, work hours) and such. If you see this post, yes, he is available. We appreciate your interest, but please, no phone calls. This young fella is Charles, and yes, he certainly deserves a royal name, he is quite the dapper young man. Plus, he came to us with a shirt that says, 'King of the Dog Park!' He is polite, well mannered, keeps to himself, and really is not ready to rub elbows with the other guests(other foster dogs) in this home. Not that Charles is rude or growly, he just prefers not to mingle. Charles had a home, apparently they bought him from a breeder a number of years ago. It is hard for any dog to have a home and enter the rescue/shelter situation, but some dogs just have a more difficult time. Charles is one of those dogs. His family loved him, but his owner had serious health issues and could no longer care for him. It is sad to see, we know he is missing his people that he loved. They taught him to sit, stay and be a good boy. In their home he loved his squeaky toys and riding in the car. He loved to sniff around outside and explore, walked well on a leash. He was happy. Now he has to navigate all that again and is having some struggles. Charles is weaning off some meds to reduce his anxiety. He is doing pretty well. He is a spunky little guy, loves his meals and being carried around. But-not so happy about the other dogs. I really don't think he has ever been king of the dog park, lol. Charles will do well in a peaceful home, we think he will be thrilled as an only dog to love his people and get all of the attention. He will need a patient home that understands that he needs time to settle in. Even going potty gets him upset, he is just a bit overstimulated at this time, he is a high strung little guy looking for some normalcy in his life again. He is doing better, we think he will grow by leaps and bounds in a loving, one dog home. Charles is so happy with his meals and treats, and some dental chews. HE has some tartar that perhaps the chews can remedy, but he also may need a dental in the future. Charles is going to be someone's special buddy again, we are looking for a family that can be with him most of the time, no long hours alone, and a patient family that can help Charles settle in to his new happy life.
