About Sydney

Adoption Fee: $100
Australian Cattle Dog / Australian Shepherd
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Sydney is approximately 50 pounds. She came to me as a puppy from a farm which owned both her parents. Life changes are bringing me to rehome her, but only to a home that is a great fit! She has completed obedience training at Happy Tails In Watertown, SD. She graduated from levels 1 and 2 basically. The trainer said she is a quick learner. She started as an outside, kenneled dog, but has been an indoor dog for almost a year. She housetrained without issue. She is crate trained, she is okay with the crate when no one is home, but prefers to be out when anyone is home. She is walked typically 2x a day, 1 to 2 miles each time. She is not ever off leash outside (I do not have a fenced yard). She would love to chase/heel everything. Should not be with cats, for example. She loves to run cattle but due to some lack of listening, she never was used in this way but has a strong drive and desire. Very loving towards her family (teen boys). I would not have her around small children however, as I feel she could be unpredictable depending on their behavior (She has not spent time around small children, I'm just assuming). She would be considered anxious or fearful in new situations. She is pretty good with new people, but take introductions with care so she is not put in a fearful/defensive situation. She struggles with being a 'dog' when it comes to meeting new dogs, and would be best as an only pet. She was able to go on walks with a dog walking group, every dog on leash and not trying to introduce them to each other. I think with more training she would grow and develop. She's been healthy but has eaten some objects causing GI distress but she was able to pass them all on her own. I believe this may have been due to boredom. She doesn't love storms and prefers to be near her parent during them. She likes her toys. She does go to a kennel for boarding when I'm out of town and they say she is great and they enjoy taking her on walks, she gets baths with them also. She is kept separate from other dogs when there. She is currently fed twice a day and is good about waiting to be told she can eat. She is treat motivated. All her supplies can go with her. Crate, raised dog bed, crate pad, toys, brush, nail care, leashes, dishes, etc
