About OTIS

NM/AZ ADOPTERS ONLY. Are you looking for a canine cuddle buddy, an outgoing companion who loves to play with both people and dogs? Meet Otis, a gorgeous and playful, 1.5-year-old, neutered mini schnauzer. With natural ears and a docked tail, he weighs in at 18 lb. He's being fostered in the Albuquerque area and is now being offered to New Mexico and Arizona adopters only. Very bright and food motivated, Otis loves to train. He travels well in the car, is good on leash, and is good for grooming. He has yet to meet a dog he doesn't like and has even enjoyed dog daycare. He's up to date on vaccines and heartworm prevention and has no known health issues. What Otis is hoping for is a calm, orderly household with someone at home most of the time (no kids under 10, please). A confident dog pal or two to show him the ropes would be a big plus. He thrives on companionship and attention; in fact, the presence of another dog helps to comfort him when people are away from home. Otis has some anxiety around being left alone, particularly in a crate, though this has improved significantly during his time in foster care. He is now okay with spending time in a crate, as long as it's the soft-sided kind. As a calming measure, Otis's vet has prescribed a daily dose of Reconcile (approximately $20 per month).
