Tank is a 7-year-old Australian Cattle Dog with a big personality and an even bigger heart. He is the smartest dog you will ever meet. Tank is crate, potty, and leash trained. He has also completed basic and advanced obedience training and knows lots of fun tricks including 'play dead' and 'peek-a-boo.' He is highly treat motivated and eager to learn which makes it very easy for him to adapt to new environments and people. Tank prefers people over dogs but doesn't mind being around other dogs. He has a ACD sister, Daisy, at home who he plays tug of war with often. He loves the water, loves his frisbee, loves hiking and long walks. He has been around small babies and young children under supervision and does well but sometimes he forgets his size. We would prefer that he goes to a home with older children so that he doesn't accidentally knock anyone over while trying to soak in pets. Tank is the definition of an adventure dog. For most of his life he has been our travel companion, joining us on multiple hiking trips and beach adventures. Every year we celebrate his birthday with a beach trip. Like most cattle dogs, Tank thrives when he has both physical exercise and mental stimulation. Once his energy is out, he's happy to curl up and spend time with his people. We are making the difficult decision to rehome Tank because we are unable to continue to provide him with the active lifestyle he is used to. We have a 10-month-old baby and another baby on the way. We also both work full-time. Additionally, Tank's sister, Daisy, was recently diagnosed with Epilepsy which is triggered by travel. As our family has grown, and Daisy's seizures have limited our travel, we've realized we can no longer give Tank the time, exercise, and adventures he deserves. We love him too much to let him settle for anything less. We want to find Tank a home where he can continue living an active, enriching life. He would do best with an active individual or family with older children. A home with plenty of opportunities for exercise and play and people who appreciate intelligent, working-breed dogs. Our priority is finding the right home for him, not just the first one. We will be selective because Tank deserves a family that will love him as much as we do. Tank is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all of his vaccines. He is located in Fillmore, California (Ventura County) and is ready to meet adopters.
