About Salem

Meet Salem Location: Austin, TX DOB: 10/24/25 Salem is a sweet, playful, and incredibly affectionate puppy with a big personality. She loves being with her people and is happiest when she's included in whatever the family is doing. When it's cuddle time, Salem gives it her all with full-body wiggles, endless kisses, and plenty of snuggles. Salem is a very smart, curious puppy who learns routines quickly and enjoys figuring things out. She's full of personality and can be a little sneaky when she's trying to get away with something she knows she shouldn't! Because she's so intelligent, she'll thrive with continued training, consistency, and plenty of mental enrichment. One of Salem's funniest habits is collecting toys. She once gathered toys from all over the house and carefully arranged them in a circle around herself on the couch. She also has a special love for ice cubes and comes running every time she hears the ice machine. Salem enjoys walks and playtime but needs daily exercise and enrichment to keep her busy. She's crate trained, mostly house trained with a consistent schedule, and sleeps through the night without accidents. She's still working on leash manners and is more confident in quiet neighborhoods than busy, noisy places, where she can become overwhelmed. Car rides are currently a challenge for Salem. She's hesitant to get into the car and is anxious during rides, so she'll need a patient family willing to help her build confidence through gradual, positive experiences. Like many puppies, Salem is still learning boundaries. She has shown mild resource guarding with a few very high-value items around other dogs, but never toward people. She also enjoys investigating countertops and occasionally chews on furniture if not redirected, so continued training and management will help her succeed. Salem has done wonderfully with other dogs and would likely enjoy having a playful canine companion. She has also lived successfully with cats, though she'll sometimes chase them if they run out of excitement. With slow introductions and supervision, she has the potential to do well in a home with cat-savvy cats. She has been friendly and affectionate with every adult and child she's met. Like she does with new dogs, she may initially greet people with lots of excitement, but she settles quickly and loves being part of the family. Salem has been healthy while in foster care and has no known medical concerns. Salem's ideal home is one that will continue building her confidence with patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement. She would love a family that enjoys walks, playtime, training, and lots of cuddle time.
