About Luke

Luke is an 11yr old Treeing Walker Coonhound mix looking for a home. We have his full medical history that can be given to new owners upon adoption. He is lovely with humans and loves all people, as well as incredibly eager to please making him easy to train. Luke is not highly energetic but does enjoy a short walk/run everyday and a few games of fetch. Once he's had a few minutes of activity he is happy to snuggle next to you or at your feet for the rest of the day. He has mild arthritis due to his age but otherwise is healthy. Luke is excellent with people but dog selective and would do best in a home without other dogs. He does have a history of lashing out at other dogs, so should be kept separate. We do not know his temperament with cats as we haven't fully introduced him to any, but one time there was a cat in the same room as him and he was not interested beyond a sniff in her direction. We also have not introduced him to child, but his happy disposition to the adults he's met leads us to believe he would be comfortable around kids as well. Luke is an amazing dog and would be the perfect fit for a low-activity family who need a cuddle buddy. He will curl up with you all night in bed, making him the best living body pillow you could ask for. In the short time we've known him, he's already become a master of 'sit', 'calm', and 'place'. We believe he would be a great student for future training due to his eagerness to please and high food drive.
